*Azura Bay founder Ashley McIntosh & Canadian Ethical & Eco Designer Nicole Bridger
We're honoured to be showcased as a pop-up shop inside the beautiful Nicole Bridger flagship store in Vancouver. Named for the designer, the clothing is beautiful, comfortable and timeless, and the space is dedicated to her amazing clothing line as well as other pop-up shops like Eco Diva Beauty and local artists. We were thrilled to get the chance to ask Nicole a few questions about her line.
What was it like to work with industry icons such as Vivienne Westwood and Chip Wilson (of Lululemon) when you started in fashion?
It is special to learn from others who have such a wealth of knowledge and experience. To see how they do things, and then choose for yourself what works and what doesn't. It can enable you to see possibility where you couldn't before and to find inspiration for your own path.
What inspired you to create your own line with an ethical and eco focus?
I was born this way; with a yearning to give back in a way that is making use of my short time on this planet. I discovered clothing at a young age and the more I learn, the more need for change I see in the industry.
What's your favourite thing about running a fashion company?
Connecting with people on a deeper level. Conversations where we leave feeling understood and inspired. Seeing the beauty in a person and helping them to see it too.
Do you have any advice for women on balancing your goals?
Balance is just about doing what feels right for you in the moment, which requires checking in. Do you need to finish that email, do you need to take the afternoon with your kid, do you need to go for a workout? Be clear on what's important and what's not for you.
What inspires you about living in Vancouver?
The ocean, the trees, and my family. I was born here. I like how familiar it feels.
What's your favourite items from Nicole Bridger for summer?
The cherish short and the flex tank make a great work to play outfit. The embrace dress will be elegant and comfortable all day and into the night.
What's your favourite thing to do in Vancouver in the summer?
Go to Spanish Banks with my friends and our kids, pack a picnic and stay until sunset.
